3/26/2007 Spring Term BeginsSuch a shorty short vacation, spring break ended while I was still dreaming going to sea world. and here it comes, this lovely spring term, when I can actually start working on my own about some subject I like: probability theory combined with measure theory. glad that the sta 530 I'm taking for this term actually starts talking about the probability theory, which I'm supposed to read through before the spring term begins, apparently I forgot so. so I will try to read through the first chapter of the probability theory book I got from Dr. Swift, and hopefully I have something to ask him on Wednesday, but first I have to ask for the permission code to add his sta 530 to my spring schedule. weird system, it keeps saying I need instructor's consent to add those courses, however I've had enough prerequisite in my opinion. anyway, got 518 and 546 added, now just have to wait for Dr. Swift's reply or just go to his class on tuesday :) my department finally realized the importantce of our graduate students getting together to help each other on things like study group and thesis; hence they're having a first general meeting for all our math grads, and gonna tell us about how to choose an advisor(unfortunately, Dr. Swift is going to Australia to work as an exchange scholar, so I'll have to pick another advisor for my master thesis). everything just feels the same on campus, the parking structure is still under construction, which was supposed to be done before the beginning of fall 2006. the library is under construction, which is said to be finished before fall 2008, I highly doubt such posibility.
new term, new goal :) gotta work hard, and try to get that freaking scholarship from the international office.
:) 3/19/2007 Spring Break and Driver Licensejust finished Californianizing myself today. went to DMV and took the written test, finished it in 15 mins with one small mistake misunderstanding "oncoming" and "coming towards", which should be the same actually. Now after the lady at window 1 stamped a hole on my oregon driver license, it officially ended my usage of an oregonian identity, which's lasted for 2 years 9 months and 18 days. I still miss the people there(not some specific ones, generally people up there are just nicer for some reason). And not sure how ugly I'm gonna look at my California DL, but I'm sure it's either gonna look funny, or fat. By the way, they give me back the test somehow, so if anyone else wants to study some sample test.......
Grades for the winter term is coming out, I'm waiting till they have Algebra updated so that I'll know if I can apply for scholarship from the international office, they freaking need your GPA at 3.75 so as to get their extremely lil amount of 1000ish bucks per term. I consider this as some form of pressure and motivation to keep me on campus from being a habitual truant again.
Spring Break's coming... although I don't really have a plan for it... probably go to Sea world again in San Diego, or Las Vegas, or just simply stay in LA...
anyway, gotta get my sleep hours which I lost during finals back ..haha 3/13/2007 Two done, and one more to goThe only disadvantage about quarter school is everything seems passing by so fast. Just 10 more weeks after Jan. 1st, I'm having my finals now. And after tomorrow, I'll be officially enjoying my spring break. :) Although this spring break, I have to spend it looking for a new place to live, I'm still pretty content about what I've been doing for the winter term. Gonna take probability theory from Dr. Swift, and I think it's gonna be fun, fun, fun, so fun~~~. I was hoping it could be a 513, the third cours in the real analysis sequence; however it doesn't seem likely that we could have at least 5 people wanting to get enrolled in this class. Probability theory is fun, since it needs so much from the measure theory we've learned in real analysis. Probability theory here is a special measure on some abstract set, not necessarily set of numbers. And I got that textbook for free, so next term the only textbook I have to buy is the one fro STA 530, random process. That saves a lot of money, considering the science textbooks cost so freaking much in the States.
Analysis, my favorite subject. I just don't know where to start for the review, so I'll probably hang around and play some game before I actually start working on it..
Happy Spring Break to ya all :) 3/11/2007 中招了~~我被点名了. 规则: 1. 被点到名字的要在自己的博客(或空间)上要回答前面所提出的问题,将这几个题目传到其他5个人. 被我点到的人: 冯烨(你给我弄一个msn space来, 不然我咒死你), shasha, Lisa, shanshan(now give you something to do while you're bored in San Jose, ha ha), S,Tina, Jessie 1.2006你最开心的事是什么?

i'm is a new initiative from Windows Live (TM) Messenger. Every time you start a conversation using i'm, Microsoft shares a portion of the program's advertising revenue with some of the world's most effective organizations dedicated to social causes. While there is no set cap on the amount each cause can receive, Microsoft will make a minimum $100,000 guaranteed donation to each of the nine organizations during the first year of the program. The more i'm (TM) conversations that happen, the more donations that happen. The sky's the limit. So any time you have an i'm conversation using Windows Live Messenger, you help address the issues you feel most passionate about, including poverty, child protection, disease, and environmental degradation. All you have to do is join and start an instant messaging conversation. Microsoft handles the donation. Visit http://im.live.com to join and get more information." so now if you wanna join us into make this world a lil bit better, you can add the small icon to your msn display name, do as the following: From your Contacts window, click the arrow next to your name and select "Options";Next to your name, type one of the following codes below for the cause you'd like to support, and click OK. (Note – Windows Live™ Messenger 8.1 is required to participate.) here's the list of the orgnizations:
