10/26/2007 Gone, Math Gone!!!due to recent budget issue of the College of Science, (they're running a deficit of 700 thousand USD), the math department just cut off 100 plus math classes, which definitely include junior and senior level undergraduate classes starting this winter quarter. It means I no longer can sign up for math 420 :(, gone, differential geometry :(. and .. what's worse is that, the whole college of science just fired all of their part time falculties, which means from now on, our professors will have to teach those lower level math classes with more than 100 students enrolled in it, and no money to pay for graders, they will have to grade the homework themselves. what's even worse is that the GTA program from the math department (graduate teaching associate) will now be able to only afford 4 GTAs a term.... and each GTA (hired) will be only teaching one class a term( not per term, which means if you're hired this term, they department might not hire you next term). if one wants to get tuition waive, he/she has to stay in the GTA program.. .oh Gone my money, oh gone my lovely math classes.... very deeply disappointed now.. so we're gonna have a rally on this friday at around 4:30 at the university quad just outside of building 8, we will try to voice ourselves, and let others know that.. the college of science is an important part of CPP. and those engineering students should join us too, since we're offering your math clases free of charge... darn the college of engineering is rich in CPP >.< I'm gonna go to the rally this after(12:21am here now) darn.. my tuition waive .. darn my salary.. oh well yeah the MaSH program is also affected. So now each math 10/11 workshop will be run by only one facilitator, hopefully the tutoring center is not that affected >.< and the whole CML lab assitant team is gone now, they all get fired >.> poor them.....darn 10/9/2007 Football: USC lost to Stanford by just one piont.friends invited me over to watch the USC game vs stanford on Saturday. I was gonna review for topology on that day; well since it's never bad to take some rest before big tests, I decided to go. USC, the NO.2 team in the nation, didn't get a very good start playing against Stanford, No 100ish team. USC scored 2 touch downs (14 points in total) with 3 more kicks (3 points each); and they were ahead of Stanford most of the time (the broadcast was always saying USC 6 points, stanford nothing) untill the second half began. Stanford, miraclelly got 3 touch down, and 2 kicks, ending up having 24 points in their pocket, just 1 mins before the end. the last touch down boosted them just one point in advantage (was 17 VS 23, 6 points behind USC at the last 5 mins), and when the trojans realized it was too late to win, they didn't give up; so they fought so hard to get at least a kick in the last 1 min, however it got intercepted. well that's destiny.
first time watching football live, I had some very enjoyable exeprience, especially when there was someone consistently shouting for some player to get into the field. I'm not a real fan of football, nor am I a student of USC, at least not now. so bascially I didnt assume either side of the game when I was watching it. Hopefully next time when they play Oregon State or Oregon, I will be there.
bah comp. exam for topology is coming arond the corner now... >.< |
